This conductor extends westward to the edge of the valley and eastward to the Arafa Fault, where it is sharply cut by the fault. The high conductivity of this zone has been attributed to saline fluids within the sedimentary filling of the valley. West of the Srava Valley, resistive basement is imaged at 4-5 km depth, overlain by Tertiary and Cretaceous rocks of moderate resistivity. An apparent updoming in the basement topography may represent an extension to the northeast of the Mahmal anticline.
